RV Mekong Navigator Reviews

  • Thanks for the wonderful journey

...Our 7 day Mekong river cruise with Navigator was fantastic. A relaxing way to see parts of Vietnam and Cambodia. The crew couldn't do enough for you to make sure you were comfortable. We were lucky in that there were only 25 on our cruise, but I'm sure it would be just as pleasant if full. Our cabin had plenty of storage, including for cases. The shower was powerful. Water was supplied in the cabin and on trips. The food was varied and plentiful. Breakfast was a buffet, but other meals were served by the delightful waiters. Coffee etc was available on the sun deck all day. Everyday there was a different cocktail before dinner. There were two trips most days but it was up to you if you joined in. In Phnom Penh the local orphanage provide the evenings entertainment with singing and dancing... read more

  • 7 Nights on RV Mekong Navigator

...I had the incredible pleasure of 7 nights on RV Mekong Navigator cruise from Cambodia to Viet Nam. After this time with the crew they were more like great new friends than service staff. I looked forward to their smiles and eagerness to serve every morning (thank you, Mekong Navigator, for the early riser coffee and pastries, it was a wonderful way to start each day!) and at every meal. A warm welcome back to the boat every time we left for an excursion, with fragrant face cloths and a refreshing drink. Continuous checking and stocking of our cabin, and turndown service before bed. The boat was clean and very comfortable. The top deck is awesome. I've been on about 10 cruises and this was hands down one of the very best... read more

  • Explore Vietnam and Cambodia

... RV Mekong Navigator was fantastic. A relaxing way to see parts of Vietnam and Cambodia. The crew couldn't do enough for you to make sure you were comfortable. This cruise exceeded all of our expectations. We had taken several ocean and river cruises before, but were pleasantly surprised by the comfort and convenience of this boat. The staff was ever-attentive, personable and efficient, the boat has a lovely casual, attractive ambience with a large covered sun deck, numerous lawn chairs conducive to relaxation, the cabins are spacious and comfortable, the cuisine is excellent, and the shore excursions fascinating. We highly recommend both this company... read more

Ho Chi Minh Tour with RV Mekong Navigator

Day 1: RV Mekong Navigator Cruise Disembarkation - Saigon:

Bustling Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon, Vietnam, Following breakfast aboard ship, we’ll disembark and transfer to our final destination in Ho Chi Minh City. Saigon, the colorful heart of Vietnam. The former capital of the French colony of Cochinchina, in 1976 the city was officially renamed Ho Chi Minh City after Hồ Chí Minh, although the name Sài Gòn is still commonly used, especially in reference to the old, colonial heart of the city.

Day 2: Saigon Tour - Cooking Class:
In the morning. Begin your urban experience in bustling Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon ), the country's commercial center and home to a growing number of upscale restaurants and shops. Visit Chinatown, the Thien Hau Pagoda, the Reunification Palace , the Opera House and Hotel de Ville. If desired, also visit the moving War Remnants Museum.
In the afternoon, take part in Saigon Cooking Class: A cooking class can teach you in a matter of hours some of the most popular Vietnamese dishes. Take a guided trip to a colorful food market and learn about the local ingredients, including 'nuoc mam' (fish sauce) which is ubiquitous to Vietnamese cooking. Partake in a hands-on cooking class where you will learn and practice traditional techniques for creating delicious Vietnamese food before feasting on a delicious lunch of your creations.
Our chef will take you to a local market in downtown Ho Chi Minh City. Here you will be given a tour and explanation on Vietnamese food products, this is your chance to learn the secrets of preparing some of Vietnam's best-loved dishes. Following continue on to the cooking centre where a chef will demonstrate the preparation of typical Vietnamese dishes before you 'become the chef' as you prepare and sample the dishes you and your fellow classmates create.

Day 3:  Cao Dai Temple – Cu Chi Tunnels:
This morning we drive to Cao Dai Temples in Tay Ninh to observe the midday service. Following lunch we will drive to the Cu Chi Tunnels and then return to HCMC at around 6 pm. Tay Ninh , near the Cambodian border, is home to the unique Cao Dai sect, whose patron saints include Joan of Arc, Victor Hugo and Winston Churchill to name a few.
The religion is a hybrid of Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and Christianity. The Cao Dai Temple at Tay Ninh has been described as a Walt Disney fantasia of the East. The temple's exterior is decorated with multi-colored dragons of all shapes and sizes competing for space with a number of religious symbols. Above the main entrance is the all-seeing holy eye, the symbol of the Cao Dai sect. The interior is just as engaging as statues of Jesus Christ, Buddha and the Hindu god, Brahma, stand side by side. The trip to Tay Ninh is combined with a visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels. At its height, the tunnel system stretched over 250km. from Saigon to the Cambodian border and was three levels deep. The network included innumerable trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers and kitchens.
Today the remaining tunnels have become a major tourist attraction giving the visitor a unique experience and a feel of what underground life during the U.S.-Vietnam War must have been like. Overnight in Saigon.
